THE SITE
Tucked away in one of the city’s lesser-known corners, the building sits quietly within the Cambridge Industrial Estate; a cluster of low-slung units that have witnessed decades of practical labour and experimentation.
Originally functioning as part of a network of light industrial spaces, the site has served many lives: from a mechanical garage to a modest warehouse. Though the street names and units have changed hands over time, this small estate has always been a place of making—workshops, repair yards, and now, cultural creation.
ITS BAG PAST
Before it found its current shape, the space was quite literally a bag factory. Totes, holdalls, and utility gear were cut, stitched, and boxed from these walls, moved on through side alleys and up into vans. It’s this unpretentious, working legacy that gave our venture its name—The Bag Factory. A simple nod to what came before, but also a symbol of utility, creativity, and movement. What’s more appropriate for a place that aims to hold and carry the varied energies of artists, dancers, and dreamers?

MUSIC LINKS
As time passed, the factory’s clatter gave way to another rhythm. The building quietly transitioned into a studio a home for local musicians, visual artists, and experimental collaborators.
Music was always close to its heart. In recent years, that raw creative spirit has been refined just enough: a small bar was added, sound was softened, and, importantly, decent toilets were finally installed.
But the spirit stays the same.
Introducing
THE BAG FACTORY
Today, The Bag Factory is made by us—Acid Rain.
We’re an evolving community of artists, selectors, technicians and hosts, building a space for thoughtful gatherings, unpolished sounds, and small-scale joy. Whether it’s a midweek industry mixer or a Saturday session with friends, the Bag Factory carries forward the story of a space that has always been used, always been loved, and always been just a little bit rough around the edges.
